Hi everyone,
This morning Sherri received her 5th infusion. Based on her blood work prior to her 4th infusion we were not hopeful that her doctors would allow her to continue with treatment as planned today. We were expecting this to get pushed out an additional week to allow her body to continue to rest and produce the necessary platelets and blood cells. To all our surprise, her bloodwork came back with positive results and she was given the greenlight to continue as planned.
Unfortunately she came home after the infusion today extremely exhausted. The brain fog is strong and the symptoms are already hitting. We jokingly discussed that is to be expected after spending a day filling your body full of toxins. She asked me to jump on and give a quick update: to let everyone know she made it through another round and she is so thankful for all the heartfelt reach outs she has received today. Please continue to send your love and good thoughts, but know her and Rick's emotion bandwidth and communication is pretty limited right now.
The family took on additional stress this this week as we found out Sherri was let go from her job. I think that will be a post for a different day.
We all have heavy boots, but continue to take things day by day.

ReplyDeleteI was thinking about Sherri this morning and checked my calendar and thought that she wasn’t going to be having this infusion until next week. As hard as it is I think it’s really good news on so many fronts that she’s able to keep up the schedule and that her body rebounded so beautifully, as evidenced by her blood tests.
I am sending so much love, Sherri. I hope you can feel all our love wrapped around you like heron wings, comforting you, lending you strength and lifting you up.
Love to the whole family. And I will have things to say about her employer letting her go - on a different day. Right now I’ll say that that was their effing loss
i was thinking of sherri this very moment . Strong , brave & courageous came to mind as did unbelievable kindness ; i just received a post card from here thanking me for all my support during this time . That's the sherri that welcomed into her home and made me feel "part of " . We can all be strong for sherri at her time of great need . love from London nik the stitch

ReplyDeletei bought myself a thing that you shine on your arm, and it shows where all the blood vessels are at. that last radioactive infusion for the PSMA pet scan took 7 sticks to get it started. you'd think they might teach people who do scans how do to sticks, but someone decided that wasn't necessary.
i figured i'm gonna be giving a lot of blood for the next five years, and this thing has merit. absence of pain is a noble goal.
being the whiny little bitch that i can be, and then watching the crap you are having to go thru, makes me feel small and petty.
